Japan // The Studio Ghibli theme park is underway with its dream elevator.

Great news for lovers of Japan and Japanese culture: the inauguration of the theme park inspired by the magical world of Studio Ghibli, linked to the pencil of Hayao Miyazaki, the artist who in November 2014 received the Oscar for Lifetime Achievement, for its impact in cinema and in the world of animation. According to rumors, the inauguration date already exists: we are talking about November 1, 2022.

It will be a large theme park dedicated to the world of the famous Japanese studio, loved all over the world for its animation masterpieces such as “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”, “Porco Rosso and The Enchanted City”. Announced as early as 2018, Ghibli Park will be a huge place of leisure and magic, with environments, sculptures and exhibition rooms entirely dedicated to the symbolic characters of the Tokyo master’s production.

It will be hosted by the Japanese city of Nagakute, located 140 kilometers from Kyoto. Immersed in a scenario in perfect balance with the environment, the park will occupy almost two hundred hectares of land, giving shape and substance to an unprecedented economic investment: there is even talk of over 290 million dollars.

Among the many iconic elements there will also be an elevator that recalls the images of the worlds seen in the beloved Ghibli films.

The elevator tower is approximately 28 meters high, is a refurbished version of an existing tower, and serves as a clock tower and observation tower at Youth Hill. According to TRDExplorer, the steampunk design of the elevator tower is based on the late 19th century science fantasy world of “Castle in the Sky” and “Howl’s Moving Castle”.

The remaining decoration of the elevator tower will be completed before the park opens later this year.
